Nargis Fakhri’s sister Aliya arrested for murder of ex-boyfriend in New York
Nargis Fakhri’s sister Aliya arrested: Aliya Fakhri, sister of Bollywood actor Nargis Fakhri, has been arrested in New York for allegedly setting fire to a garage, resulting in the deaths of her ex-boyfriend Edward Jacobs (35) and his friend Anastasia Ettienne (33). The incident occurred in the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens on November 2.
Nargis Fakhri’s sister Aliya Fakhri, 43, arrived at the detached garage early in the morning and yelled, “You’re all going to die today,” before lighting the building on fire, according to a statement from Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz. When the fire started, Jacobs, who lived above the garage, was asleep. Despite Ettienne’s best efforts, he was unable to escape the flames. Both victims died from heat burns and smoke inhalation.
Many charges have been brought against Fakhri by a grand jury, including four counts of first-degree murder, four counts of second-degree murder, and first- and second-degree arson. She could get a maximum sentence of life in prison if found guilty of the primary offense.
“This defendant intentionally killed two people by starting a fire that ensnared a man and woman in a raging conflagration,” said District Attorney Katz. As we pursue this case, our thoughts and prayers are with the families of Edward Jacobs and Anastasia Ettienne.
The accusations have shocked Fakhri’s mother. Who has described her daughter as a kindhearted individual who always tries to assist others. She disclosed that Aliya had struggled with opiate addiction after suffering a tooth injury, which she thinks could have affected her actions.
